Family visit and Hoover Dam tour

Saturday: My dad and Claudia came into town for a visit. Dad is on the board of Trustees for the Salt Lake County Water Conservancy District. The district is having their annual conference at Caesar's Palace. Saturday Dad and Claudia treated our family to shopping, letting Jarrin and Jaliece pick out favorite toys for Christmas. Thank you for being so generous! After lunch at Lonestar steakhouse, where Dad and Jaliece did the two step in the isle, we wrapped all the gifts. Later we conquered the last of the Christmas decorations that go high up on a plant shelf. I climbed, Claudia, Dad and Jeff held the ladder nervously while handing me the lights and garland. It felt great to finally get this done. Thanks guys!
Sunday: Dad and Claudia came to church with us. After, we went to the "Feast" at the new Red Rock Casino. The food was excellent!

Wednesday: Caesar's Palace 7:30 a.m. Dad and Claudia treated us to breakfast at the Augustus Cafe.
We had some time before we needed to be on the tour van so we took some pics

Dad got us in on a special tour of the Hoover Dam with the Water District. The tour began with taking an elevater down approx. 500 ft. We are standing outside at the bottom of the Dam on the Arizona - Nevada border

We had the opportunity to see parts of the Dam that are no longer available to the public because of 9/11. View of the Dam from the bottom.

The floor was made of marble ... this design was inspired by the power and purpose of the Dam
Well.. we really like the Transformer movie so we had to get a pic of us with this ...lol!
We entered a narrow tunnel deep inside the Dam. This is a view of a metal grate we had to walk across. Our guide said it goes about a 100 ft down. I acted cool while crossing it, but truthfully it scared me to near death! Look close, I think that ladder is rusty! Jaliece had to be carried across
The narrow tunnel

The view at the end of the narrow tunnel. We are peeking through the middle of the Dam, pretty neat!

I took this from the visiter center outside of the Dam. It's amazing just minutes earlier we were standing behind that, peeking through the slots.

Another tunnel. This tunnel runs horizontal with the Dam

View from standing on the Dam

The new bridge. It will be complete August of 2010. Hopefully it meets in the middle as planned...ha ha ha!
We were standing way down there looking up at the Dam

End of a fun and educational day....Thanks Dad, Claudia and the Salt Lake Water Conservancy District for letting us spend the day with you! I asked the kids what was their favorite part of the day. Jarrin said "Looking down from the top of the Dam" Jaliece said, "When grandpa gave me three pennies for the wishing well" Jeff was such a trooper! I am very grateful that he was able to spend the day with us :)
